Desiccare's Unit Pak line offers drying applications for all sizes of packaging. These Unit Paks meet or exceed MIL Spec 3464, Type I & II. A "unit" refers to a Military Specification for packaging. The term "unit" is a quantity of desiccant, which will absorb a set percentage of its weight at certain levels of humidity. For convenience, one "unit" is approximately equal to one ounce.
Silica Gel is a form of silica manufactured from sodium silicate and sulfuric acid. Silica Gel is non-hazardous and is capable of adsorbing 40% of its weight in water vapor at 100% humidity. Silica Gel has a porous molecular structure that closely resembles a sponge, and has the highest capacity of any commercial desiccant for moisture adsorption. Used in a wide variety of applications such as: Rolled Steel, computers, aerospace, automobile parts, military equipment, crates, etc. Available in 1/6, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 16 or 80 unit paks. Desiccant Materials: Silica Gel, Indicating Silica Gel, Clay, Molecular Sieve and Carbon. Available Substrates: Tyvek (1/6-16 unit - FDA Approved), Kraft (1/6-4 unit) and Sewn Bag (8-80"unit).
